According to numerous reports that Boris Johnson (Conservative Party), 10 Downing Street (where the Prime Minister resides) held several gatherings (parties) which broke lockdown regulations, with some at the events mocking the regulations entirely (bad look).
Later today, Johnson will face a vote of no confidence after the threshold of 54 Conservative Members of Parliament submitting letters seeking his removal was finally reached. The 1922 Committee, which represents backbench Tories (Conservatives in the United Kingdom), released the following statement after the news:
In accordance with the rules, a ballot will be held between 1800 and 2000 today, Monday 6 June. The votes will be counted immediately afterwards. An announcement will be made at a time to be advised. Arrangements for the announcement will be released later today.
Johnson needs to win 180 votes, 50% plus one of the Conservative Members of Parliament, to stay in office as Prime Minister.
