But if you thought the iconic Krabby Patty was only make-believe, a major fast food chain is about to make it a reality.
The Krabby Patty Kollab
Wendy’s recently announced that it had struck a deal with Paramount to team up on a promotion that adds two new items to its menu. The aforementioned Bikini Bottom restaurant inspired Wendy’s new Krabby Patty Kollab burger, and there’s a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty available for a Spongebob-themed dessert.
The promotion is set to roll out in Wendy’s locations across the U.S. on Tuesday in coordination with the 25th anniversary of the popular animated series.
So what’s on the real-life Krabby Patty? According to reports, the burger consists of:
- A beef patty
- American cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Pickles
- Onion
- ‘Top secret’ sauce
With a list of toppings like that, it sounds like a potential rival to the iconic Big Mac. And you won’t have to wait long until it’s at a Wendy’s near you.
Save room for dessert
A Frosty is enough reason for many folks to stop by a local Wendy’s, so this sweet treat was a natural menu item to complete the chain’s collaboration with the production company behind Spongebob.
And even if a vanilla Frosty infused with pineapple-mango puree wasn’t technically in the series, its name — the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty — is a clear homage to Spongebob’s home.
Wendy’s certainly isn’t the only major brand capitalizing on Spongebob’s big anniversary. Walmart is using the occasion to promote its new augmented reality experiences with a collection of free digital collectibles based on the series.
